Welcome to Devon Deer

Deer management and Deer Stalking services in Devon

Thanks for visiting my site, I offer a Deer Management and Deer Stalking service based in and around the Dartmoor National Park in the centre of the beautiful county of Devon.

We are blessed with 3 varieties of deer in the area of Devon I cover, Red, Fallow and Roe.

Red Deer  Fallow buck  Roe Buck

These are well distributed across the whole of the Devon countryside and the population is on the increase.

Whilst they are a fantastic sight to see in the Devon countryside they do need to be controlled to a level that does not bring them into conflict with modern farming methods, woodland and forestry managers, and the Devon road users, sadly there are frequent road traffic incidents involving deer and the motorist, which can be fatal should it involve a motorcyclist.

The deer does not have any natural predators in the UK since the extinction of the bear and the wolf so therefore it is down to deer stalkers to manage them in a sensible way.

Deer management can of course be coupled with accompanied deer stalking for either the novice or the more experienced deer stalker (also known as deer hunting in countries outside of the UK) I have access to many farm's for deer stalking Red, Fallow, or Roe deer.

The landowners whose land I currently carry out deer management on are very happy for me to add this service on, they get the deer controlled in a managed way, they trust me 100% to carry this out in a safe, fully insured way, and I am always with the client at every stage of the stalk right up to the point when I hand the client the rifle and give him/her permission to squeeze the trigger.

I also offer cast and blast excursions, start the day off with a deer stalk, and then try your hand at fly fishing, as a qualified fly fishing instructor and guide it makes a great package.

Of course then there is the bi-product of the deer control, delicious low in fat venison, I sell this at very competitive rates compared to butchers and supermarkets (supermarkets frequently sell venison from New Zealand) mine is all shot locally.

The hard work starts as soon as the deer is shot, it must be gralloched, inspected and then chilled as soon as possible, I usually hang mine for 5 days to improve the flavour and tenderness, then it is butchered by me and packed into various cuts to suit all pockets.

Because you deal with me direct there is no middle man, which makes my venison very affordable.

I can deliver within a 15 mile radius of Cheriton Bishop for a small charge and minimum order quantity.

I am a member of the following organisations and have the stated qualifications.
